Sewing Centres

Many of these women worked as maids in other people's houses, with no dignity and no way forward. Our sewing centres give them a skill, teach them how to run a business, and help them earn with dignity for their families.

From working as maids to running a business

Gospel OnFire supports the Joyful Hands Sewing Center, and we also run Adelaide's Sewing Academy. At Adelaide's, a new class of girls graduates every two months.

Many of these girls and women were working as maids in other people's houses. They worked long hours for very little, with no dignity and no way of building anything of their own.

“We are not only teaching sewing. We are giving women back their dignity.”

Skills and entrepreneurship

At our sewing centres they learn a real skill: cutting, stitching and finishing clothes to a standard people will pay for. They also learn how to start and run their own business, so that when they graduate they are ready to work for themselves.

Now, instead of working in other people's homes, these women can start their own business, earn with dignity and support their families.
